SHEEP PASTURE PROPERTY USE & ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION
The NRT operates its Sheep Pasture conservation property with the primary goal of having the Sheep Pasture property open is to allow individuals daily access for personal health, family recreation, and emotional wellness. Access to the trail system, animals, and open space are available to anyone, free of charge, on a regular basis throughout the year. Recreation, including jogging, hiking, biking (on established trails only), picnicking, birding, and other nature pursuits are all welcome on site. Grills, drones, open fires, mechanized vehicles (ATVs, snowmobiles, dirt bikes, etc.), and fireworks are not permitted at any time. For the health of all visitors and to protect the property and buildings from potential fires, smoking and vaping are not allowed in Sheep Pasture public spaces, including outdoors. For more information, visit the FAQ page by clicking here.
Please continue to use the precautionary measures of staying home if you are feeling ill or have been diagnosed with a contagious illness. When outdoors, please be considerate of others who still may not choose to interact closely with others and who prefer to maintain social distance. Please remember that many people come to Sheep Pasture for exercise and relaxation because they feel comfortable there and they cannot safely go to places where larger numbers of people gather or to indoor facilities. For the safety of all, NRT educators may request mask use during any/all programs if necessary.
There is no charge to visitors to access the property and trails for personal and family use. All visitors to the Sheep Pasture property do so at their own risk. The property, including the trail system, is largely ungroomed and may have mud, ice, branches, snow, rocks, uneven footing, or other challenging conditions. Trails are not plowed in winter. Natural conditions can change quickly, and for safety reasons all visitors should take care to be aware of their surroundings and for potential hazards while on the property. All children must be accompanied by an adult parent/guardian while on the property.
Our staff and volunteers always work hard to keep the property safe and open for the benefit of the entire community throughout the year. NRT staff also offer science-based learning opportunities through in-school presentations, on site nature programs, summer programs, and outdoor STEM-based classes at individual schools when possible. Group meetings/ sports practices, club meetings, groups & outside classes are not allowed without an approved rental contract from NRT. All commercial/ business activities, including dog walking and photography businesses, must contact the NRT to obtain permission for use; proof of insurance may be required and fees may be charged. Please contact the NRT at [email protected] for more details about your specific event or use request.
Rental of the NRT pavilion is available on a limited basis for small groups, including private/family events and business outings. Rental requests for the season are considered beginning in late winter and are scheduled as space is available from late spring through fall.
Rental requests close in September for the season, or when all available dates are filled.
In order to maintain a peaceful and restorative experience for all visitors at Sheep Pasture, we ask that the property not be used for sports team meets, large personal parties, or as a group gathering meet up space outside of rental events unless approved beforehand by the NRT. For details, please contact [email protected].
Family pets continue to be welcome on trail areas to enjoy the outside, too. For safety, all pets must be leashed at all times when on NRT property. To help NRT staff who are on site working to keep the property safe and open every day, please dispose of all waste, including gloves, tissues, masks, food wrappers, doggie poop bags, etc. in the containers provided throughout the property. Everyone's help in maintaining a safe environment allows us to continue being a resource for you.
Thank you to everyone for your help in keeping Sheep Pasture safe and accessible to all!
