Programs For Young Children

Are you a pre-school teacher? 
​Take your class of little adventurers to the Sheep Pasture, or let us bring nature right into your classroom. NRT's environmental programs for young children offer both indoor and outdoor learning activities. Whether we are out on the trails, exploring diverse wildlife habitats, meeting our resident education and farm animals, or bringing nature to the classroom, NRT will work to meet the needs of your young learners!

Excitement in your classroom

Adaptation Station
What is an adaptation? How do animals adaptations help them? Learn about the adaptations of animals through hands-on work.
 

Backyard Buddies
Who lives in your backyard? From turtles to raccoons, we have many animal friends who call our home their home. Learn about the wildlife found right in our area and what you can do to attract and protect them. Meet and learn about our resident turtle.

Growing Green
Why do plants have flowers? How do their seeds spread? Bring out the little gardener in your students with this interactive program. 

Mad Science
How do light sticks glow? What is magnet magic? How do you blow a bubble inside of a bubble? Cool science experiments and the science behind them. 

Nature Savers - Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
Everyday choices can have a significant impact on our environment. Kids learn ways they can help the natural world through games and activities.

 
Sensational Senses
Why do rabbits have large ears? How do insects use their antennae? Learn about the basic five senses plus a few super senses found in the animal world. Meet some Sheep Pasture resident bugs.

Down On The Farm
Do you know what comes from a farm?  Meet the farm animals, learn how to make butter, feed the chickens, and experience the daily life of a farmer.

Habitats And Homes
What is a habitat?  What kinds of animals live in each one?  From aquatic life to birds, come explore and learn about Sheep Pasture's unique habitats. 



​Sensory Outdoor Exploration
Come to explore the natural world utilizing all five senses.  Go for a hike, feel some artifacts, make music, and so much more.

Insects Big & Small
What makes an insect unique?  Step into our outdoor classroom to catch a few live insects and see them in their natural habitats. 

Who Wears What?
Are cows covered in fur or feathers? Do snakes have wet or dry scales? Learn who wears what in the animal world.

World of Water
What happens to water after it rains? What creates a cloud? Join us on a journey of the water cycle through the eyes of a bullfrog. ​

*All program lengths range from 35-90 minutes.  Times are very flexible, so let the educator know what works best for your group!
