NRT's Outdoor Explorers Club
FOR 10-14 YEAR OLDS

AN OUTDOOR, AFTER SCHOOL OPPORTUNITY JUST FOR STUDENTS AGES 10-14!

Are you looking for an excuse to get outside with your peers? Do you have a passion for being outdoors and learning about the natural world? Could the NRT's Outdoor Explorers Club be just the opportunity you're looking for? Already know you want to sign-up? Register here!

The NRT’s education department is now offering a weekly, after school Outdoor Explorers Club just for students ages 10-14! With everything going on in the world, it's important to make sure we are finding ways to connect with each other and our surroundings. Each week, we will get to know different parts of the Sheep Pasture property through games, activities and investigations. Weekly meeting topics will include, but are not limited to:

  • Nature Journaling
    • One of the best ways to connect with nature and explore our own interests is to create a nature journal! We will use our nature journals to record data and reflect on our findings during club meetings.
  • Biodiversity Studies
    • Every inch of the Sheep Pasture property is filled with an unimaginable amount of biodiversity from minuscule insects all the way to large mammals! Not to mention the plant life. Using standard scientific techniques, we will learn to read the landscape and explore the various species that are present all around us!
  • NRT Property Hikes
    • The 154-acre Sheep Pasture property offers a wide range of paths to explore throughout a variety of ecosystems. The well-maintained trail system is perfect for leisurely afternoon hiking accompanied by investigations about what we are seeing!
  • Outdoor Games
    • Just because we have to stay six feet apart, doesn't mean we can't play some games and have some fun! One of the joys of spending the afternoon outdoors is that space is never limited and there's always an opportunity to incorporate some friendly competition into anything we do.
  • Streaming Activities
    • Sheep Pasture's diverse landscape offers a perfect opportunity to explore stream ecology in Queset Brook! This  small waterway that runs right through the middle of the property is ideal for water quality testing and macro-invertebrate studies!
  • So much more!
    • We are happy to use our Outdoor Explorers club as an opportunity to cater to our participant's varying interests each week! If there's something you'd like to learn about, let us know!
