Water and the Future of Your Community
Wednesday, April 30th
6:30PM
to 9:30PM
This workshop is presented as a part of the Taunton River Watershed Study Southeastern Regional High School, 250 Foundry Street, Easton. The goal of the Study is to develop a long-term vision and strategy for the sustainable management of the Taunton River Watershed. This Study will result in recommendations to meet water supply demands, wastewater disposal needs, and storm water management goals while maintaining the ecological integrity in the watershed. Have you ever wondered where your water comes from and where it goes? Have you wondered how much water there is and how it is replenished? What is a sub-basin and what is a “water budget”? What does it mean when a water budget is “in balance” or experiencing a net loss of water. We will learn about these things and some ideas, such as Low Impact Development (LID), to protect our watershed for the people and wildlife that depend upon it. The Queset Brook that runs through Sheep Pasture is part of the Taunton River Watershed and will be discussed at the workshop. Come and learn more about our watershed and how to protect it. This workshop is co-sponsored by the Town of Easton, Canoe River Aquifer Advisory Committee, Natural Resources Trust of Easton, Brockton Conservation Commission, and the Taunton River Watershed Alliance.
