FAQs

What does my child need to bring to camp every day?

1

Please make sure your child arrives to camp each day with a full water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray, a snack and lunch (NRT does not provide lunches and cannot refrigerate/ heat home lunches). Campers must always be wearing close-toed sneakers. Crocs and similar waterproof clogs are not a camp appropriate shoe but can be brought as a water shoe only if desired. We strongly recommend bringing a change of clothes and towel just in case (we do a lot of water games to stay cool).

How are campers split into groups for the week?

2

Campers will be split into groups based on age. This is dependent on the age breakdown of each session and may change week to week. In general, we try to keep 7- and 8-year-olds together, 10-year-olds together, and 11- and 12-year-olds in their own groups. There is a max of 10 campers (Nature Campers + Leadership Youth) in each group. If you have specific group requests, please contact camp@nrtofeaston.org, and we will do our best to accommodate.

What does a day of SPNC look like?

3

When campers arrive, they will have time to settle in and play games before we have morning circle to discuss and prepare for the day. Groups will split up, have a morning snack, and then group adventure time begins, where they will play games and activities planned by their counselor. After lunch, campers will have the option between a game, craft, and hike that changes every day. Some days, instead of option time, there will be camp-wide activities or guest speakers. We end the day with ‘magic spots’, a time to relax and decompress before closing circle wraps up the day. The flow of activities day to day is subject to change but this is a general overview.

Can my child bring toys from home?

5

Bringing toys from home is not prohibited. However, it is the child’s responsibility to keep track and care of their toys; Sheep Pasture is not responsible for any lost or broken toys. Campers are not allowed to trade any personal belongings included toys, Pokemon cards, and other collectable cards. We recommend leaving all personal toys and collectables at home, there will be plenty of scheduled games and activities to stay busy.

What if I need to pick up my child early or drop off late?

6

No worries, just let our camp director, Jess, known either at check-in or check-out the day before. You can drop off/pick up your child at the camp barn.

What happens in the case of inclement weather?

In the case of extreme temperatures, heavy rain, or storms we will keep the campers inside either the camp barn or Carriage House to stay dry. On hot days we stay as cool as possible with water games and spending time, especially in the hot afternoon, inside the Carriage House doing an activity or watching a G/PG movie. The Carriage House is a storm safe, temperature-controlled building.

What is the cancellation/transfer policy?

Please note that deposits are non-refundable. All other camp payments are non-refundable, except in the case of a medical emergency. Documentation may be required. A camper's registration may be transferred to another session pending NRT Staff approval and availability.
