With a little planning a fall hike can be a beautiful thing. Be sure to wear sunscreen, bring water, and check for ticks after your hike. Here is one of my favorite hikes at the Sheep Pasture especially for those with small children. This hike can be from 15 to 30 minutes.
Through the Woods to Simba’s House We Go:
Start near the Carriage House (NRT offices) and head east on the Rhododendron trail. This part of the hike you’ll be surrounded by tall trees so be sure to listen and watch for birds. Cardinals, chickadees, and the mourning doves. A bird book and small binoculars will make this part of the hike extra fun.
Feel free to pack a picnic lunch or snack and eat at the picnic tables near the barns or walk down the road towards the NRT office and picnic by our chicken coops.
